The new Mac Pro systems, including the 12-core versions, which were announced back in July, are now available for order from the Apple Store. Three different base configurations are available:

  • $2,499 – 1x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon “Nehalem” processor
  • $3,499 – 2x 2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon “Westmere” processors
  • $4,999 – 2x 2.66 GHz Hexa-Core Intel Xeon “Westmere” processors

Mac Pro options in the Apple Store

Each base configuration also includes a 1 TB SATA hard drive, 18x double-layer SuperDrive, and ATI Radeon HD 5770 with 1 GB GDDR5. Upgrade options include faster processors, more memory, solid-state drives (up to 512 GB) and even ATI’s top of the line graphics card, the Radeon HD 5870.

It is currently unavailable, but Apple has also added a Radeon HD 5870 upgrade kit to the store. Priced at $449.00 the kit is listed as only compatible with the new Mac Pros and the Early 2009 Mac Pros with 1066 MHz DDR3 memory.
