Wearing handcuffs and an orange prison shirt, Paul Devine appeared before a judge with his lawyer present at a federal court in San Jose, CA to enter his plea of not guilty. Devine a midlevel manager within the Apple’s global supply division was arrested last week on charges of accepting kickbacks and bribes from Apple’s Asian suppliers.

Devine, 37, of Sunnyvale, CA faces 23 counts of wire fraud, money laundering, conspiracy and accepting kickbacks. In a seperate civil lawsuit, Apple claims that Devine received more than $1 million in kickbacks. These kickbacks came from several suppliers of iPhone and iPod accessories.

Federal prosecutors have requested that Devine be denied bail, arguing that no conditions could ensure that Devine would actually appear for trial. A bail hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.

According to the report from Reuters, the investigation is still ongoing.
