Today Apple announced the refresh of the iMac desktop. The rumors we had been seeing were partly correct. While there are no USB 3.0 or FireWire 1600/3200 ports, the new iMacs do include Intel’s i3, i5 and i7 processors. Additionally the graphics have been bumped up to include the ATI Radeon HD 5670 and HD 5750 GPUs.
“We took the world’s best all-in-one and made it even better,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “With the latest processors, high-performance graphics and signature aluminum and glass design, customers are going to love the latest iMac.”
The new iMacs start at $1,199 for the base 21.5-inch version up to the maxed out i7 quad-core 27-inch iMac which rings up to over $4,000. Of course, the $4,000 upgrade includes 16 GB of DDR3 memory, a 2 TB hard drive with a 256 GB SSD and the 2.93 GHz quad-core i7 processor.
