Apple announced the Magic Trackpad today. It is basically the same trackpad you see on the MacBook Pro except it is about 80 percent larger and designed with the desktop in mind. It looks like a pretty nice way to bring the full multi-touch gesture support to the desktop Macs since the Magic Mouse is limited in gesture support.
Desktop users, your time has come. The new Magic Trackpad is the first Multi-Touch trackpad designed to work with your Mac desktop computer. It uses the same Multi-Touch technology you love on the MacBook Pro. And it supports a full set of gestures, giving you a whole new way to control and interact with what’s on your screen.
It uses two AA batteries, and connects to your Mac via Bluetooth with a range of 33 feet. This might also make a nice remote for your Mac Mini based media center in the living room. The design is nearly identical to that of the Apple wireless keyboard which should allow for a smooth transition while working.
